Bitten: M&M Almond

NOT an advertisement.

As an adult, I do not condone the consumption of lurid candy produced en masse, dyed in technicolour, and marketed by menacing cartoon characters. Unfortunately, I do possess an infantile appreciation for brightly-coloured distractions. And look! M&M Almond!

Lately I've been hitting up a range of nutty M&M products, having recently been introduced to M&M Peanut Butter (not simply peanut) by a friend (bad friend, bad!). M&M Peanut Butter is only available in specialty stores, but I found M&M Almond in the city Woolworths last weekend, which makes it a significantly more economically viable treat. These taste like regular M&Ms (i.e. far from the best or worst chocolate in the world) but with whole almonds within. Not a bad result.

Plus the red ones double up as excellent cosmetics. Well I remember rubbing them vigorously into my cheeks and lips until I learnt to raid mum's make-up drawer like a normal pre-teen. The innocence of youth indeed.

A more mature post will materialise within the week. In the meantime, did you ever have a favourite colour M&M?

  3. Michelle: Pretzel flavour?! But, pretzels themselves have different flavours surely?? That would be like 'potato chip' flavour..

Ashley: Oh really!! I'm so jealous, I've been paying $2.50 a (very small) pop at the Lolly Store...

  6. I saw these in the isle the other week. I was really tempted, If it weren't for the fact I was having creme brulee that night, I would have succumbed.

  7. Thanks. Ah, so now you are checking the produce at Woolworths as well, just like this economist, who objects to the popular put down that economists know the prices of everything but the value of nothing!!!
There is a huge M&M store on 7th Avenue, just a few steps from Times Square in NY.
You will be vey happy there sampling M&M , I suppose.

  8. Winston: Yes I did, thanks!! Very excited. And haha I asked because apparently some people believe that some M&Ms taste better than others...

AT: These are still chocolate! But they have almonds as well. Double bonus.

Adrian: Tsk. Chocolates and creme brulees are two different things! I could totally consume both ;)

DJ: Haha yes I believe I would! And people seem to make many generalisations about economists. I don't hear the same about..bankers, say.

  9. Beautiful photos!

I've never really understood the allure of M&Ms, so it's not my chocolate/candy of choice. I've tried the peanut butter ones because I like peanut butter, and agree they're not very good. I'd wanna try these almonds just for the novelty "new" factor... but then again wouldn't scorched almonds be better? (Sorry, I'm being M&M party pooper!!! :))

  10. There was once when I only went through a phase eating blue M&Ms. So I guess that's my favourite.

  12. April: Right on the money - nuts and the novelty is exactly why I picked these off the shelf! ;)

    msihua: WHY?

penny: Ooh I never even knew there were black M&Ms, why wouldn't they have them in Australia!?
